Eddie went missing in November of 2019. Volunteers rallied to help put up posters quickly to help track his movements in the neighbourhood, but sadly Eddie was found deceased by his owner shortly after going missing. Eddie's owner was so overwhelmed by the support they received from complete strangers, recognized the amount of work that is needed to successfully bring a lost dog home safely, and decided to establish Eddie's Network in his memory to help future lost dogs.
The saying "it takes a village" really rings true here—so we are working to organize that village. The
task of finding a lost pet is a big one. Posters need to be put together to go up in the area as fast as possible. With every passing day, the poster radius should be expanded. Homes and businesses in the area should be canvassed door to door for camera footage. Post should be shared on social media and other websites. Owners will need to receive and respond to sighting calls, keep in communication with the EN team and sometimes dog trackers, monitor and bait traps, check camera footage, among many other things.. It's much more than one person can do on their own!
Eddie's Network is a team of dedicated like-minded volunteers, working to raise awareness, and help locate lost dogs. To date, we've helped over 300 lost dogs. We have worked closely on a few cases with the dog trackers of Healing Hearts Lost Pet Search & Recovery, Dog Gone K9 Search, Track & Rescue, and Pawsitive Ground Search. Our volunteers not only spearhead postering campaigns, we also provide much needed guidance during this difficult time. Often requiring many hours of groundwork, searching for a lost pet can take a huge emotional toll. Having a support network can make your search a little bit easier.
